BEGINNERS COURSE – LEARN TO WRITE YOUR OWN ICON

Experience the entire process of writing an icon using time honoured methods and using the traditional materials of gold leaf, pigments and egg tempera. This course is suitable whether you’re a natural artist or just a beginner. Deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith while exploring the history and theology of the icon. Classes are restricted to 10 participants and your tutor will be Michael Pervan.

You will get a single gessoed board on which you will paint your icon, 2 paint brushes and pigments of your own as well as a printed resource detailing the steps you will take in the workshop. You will get the opportunity to gild your icon with 24kt gold leaf.

WORKSHOP COST: $750 INCl. GST

There are 2 options available for attending a workshop, both total 10 hours:

Friday to Saturday, 5 hours EACH day;
24 – 25 June
29 – 30 July
27 – 28 August
